Merry Christmas from the Tanners 2019

We have spent our sixth full year in Dallas, and we are continually grateful for the many blessings we have received. We would like to share some of the special moments from our lives this past year with you.

In February of 2019, Stephen accepted an offer to continue to work for the City of Plano as the new Assistant to the City Manager. While difficult to leave the Marketing and Communications Department after five years, Stephen was excited for the new opportunity.

This year, Stephen's new position had him work with the 86th Texas Legislative Session, working with state representatives and city representatives on legislative bills. He has also worked on numerous special projects for the city.

Erica took being a stay-at-home mother in stride. Her joy for life has rubbed off on the children, as they continue to discover and learn every day from their mother.

Mothers Day 2019

The whole family had a wonderful time visiting with Stephen's side of the family this summer in Carlsbad, the Bay Area, and Tahoe. It was a great time to catch up and also escape the heat of the Texas summer.

In late August, Stephen started his final semester at The University of Texas at Dallas, where he graduated with his Masters in Public Affairs (MPA) in December 2019. He was initiated into The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, and completed his capstone, working with the Girls Scouts of Northeast Texas in improving overall engagement in programming.

While Stephen excelled in his classes, it wouldn't have been possible without the love and support of Erica. Twice a week, Stephen would attend night classes, and Erica would have to cook and put the children to bed without any support. With two rambunctious children, this is no easy task.

For Thanksgiving this year, Erica and Stephen were able to travel to Lisbon to celebrate Stephen's brothers milestone birthday. Erica's parents loved the opportunity to spend the holiday with the children.

Finally, in December 2019, Stephen graduated with his Masters in Public Affairs from the University of Texas at Dallas. Stephen went to night school for three years pursuing his MPA, and with the support of Erica and the kids, was able to complete it while earning Phi Kappa Phi honors (top 10 percent of his class).
